Sun Aug 09, 2009 7:27 pm

(me) David and Igor (without pictures as my last camera didnt like the salt water 3 weeks ago)

from 15:00 to 17:30

went out on a boat today
we fished between killiney and bullock (i wont tell where is the pollock but there is pently out there!)
first hour and a half nothing
we have tryed feathers, baits on bottom etc nothing worked
untill i realised that i use to caught fish there before but different way
so i used black feathers with shiny strips in it(very good for mackerel and even better for pollock) i also changed the technique
note: three weeks ago a shoul of macks swam into dun harbour and we catched about 35 in 1 hour with black feathers

first cast ! 2 pollock
second cast empty
third cast 1 pollock weight about 1kg
all together i caught about 10 pollocks and 1 fat sandeel in 45 min
Igor with colourfull feathers didnt had a bite! had agreat time! and nice shower on the way back to bullock harb

ps: please if any1 would give me advice what is the best way to catch cod! and where etc:D

Either Beshof Island or Borza Head would be the best marks for cod

their is cod around those grounds and good numbers of them too. be prepared to loose gear when fishing for em, the reefs around the 40 foot, muglins and the south end of dalkey island all hold cod. if you see lobster pots where you are fishing you are in the right spot. tactics are fairly simple too, pink or red baited feathers with a head hooked rag will do the trick. fish hard on the bottom right in the kelp and rocks
