moorings in howth harbour

does anyone know when the moorings in howth are given .i applied to the harbour master he told me i was 2nd on a reserve list in january iv been out 3 times since .the last time he threw the head and told me not to come to him he will contact me i originally made an application in december 2008 and am getting a bit nervous now

did he give you any idea of how many are on the first list

if i were you i would start getting used to launching and retrieving
not as bad as it seems it means your not just stuck fishing out of the one port you can go up and down the country at your leisure and you can also look after your engine by flushing when you get home after every trip not just once a year as would most likely happen if your on a mooring.

looks like thats what i be doing its a 26ft viking solus i towed it back from essex had an accident coming back she jackknifed on the motorway have lost my passion for towing a bit since then

that is a serious boat to be towing around,what were you towing it with
there is another place you could try, get on to the poolbeg boat club beside the east link and see can they slot you in it might be worth a try

i was towing her with a 2 litre merc nice and easy 30/35 mph coming down a hill in cambridge on the motorway crawler lane a artic flew by doing a ton and sucked the boat out she started spinning seen her about to topple so i crashed the car in to the trailer to stop her going over burst the front tyres but no damage to the boat thank god so still a bit shakey with it i think il try ringsend alright and clontarf its just that little bit big for some of the small country roads .just got a letter from howth turned down i think you need someone with clout to talk to the harbourmaster. might try my local td twinkle

You could try Malahide. It might be a little expensive though. With the big R looming, you should find a berth handy enough and you could always try haggle. The have swinging moorings in Malahide as well.

Definitely seem to be spaces available in Dun Laoghaire I was talking to them today and they gave me a choice of 3 spaces to move to because the new boat is a bit bigger but they said to move fast as there was a fair demand at the moment.

there's deffo room in dunlaoghaire there's 5 gone where my my boat is
its about €400 per meter for the year a bit cheaper if you get it just for the summer

thanks lads i give a ring around tomorrow 400 ametre dont think il ring them swing moorings in howth was 200 from april to oct thats going to be hard to beat whats eating me is these are given by one person the harbour master.he told us he was keeping spaces till may because some of the mooring holders had not paid before april11th he was given them an extra month to pay that drunk me off its like a big click

I paid €280 p/m on a 24 footer a few years back in Malahide, dont know if the price has gone up since I sold my boat.

yes im a happy fisher harbourmaster just rang he giving me a mooring monday 10.30am will be out the back of the island by
11.30am weather permiting have been looking out at my boat since december cant wait to get it in to the water

I've been dealing with the Harbour master for the last three years and find him very affable.

I have a mooring there right down from the Lifeboat slip which is very handy.

Believe you me you were very lucky to get one from him as there is a lot of people looking for them.

I recently moved to the Howth area and would like to get some info on obtaining a mooring in Howth Harbour. The boat is a sports fisher 23" and am happy enough to have at a water mooring if that is the cheapest option.

Anyone give me the low down on howth moorings (what areas are covered by what organisations) and any details on how to contact the Harbour master...

hi there and welcome to the site.the harbourmasters office is in the first building on the right as you drive up the harbour. the fish mart is in the same building. his name is captain raja maitre.just google harbourmaster howth. and you will get his phone number.these moorings are in huge demand. as a lot of the yachters can no longer justify the charges in the marina.they'l have to all start launch and retrive.
