Aluminum boat

Hi Lads,

Has anyone got an 'alumacraft' 15ft boat or similar? What are they like on the sea? Are they a 'wet' boat or are they good at sea keeping?

hi i had a 16ft quicksilver and 25hp a few years ago ,very fast and safe easy to launch . sold that and had various fibreglass since.now have boat on mooring but just bought a new ally quicksilver 15ft and 20 hp 4/ for fishing other parts,no water breaks over the bow ,flows down each side ,very happy with it so easy to tow on irish roads and launch ,very good.buy one

dont take that as a go ahead for an onshore force 6 in the west of Ireland
that boat is rated as a freshwater boat so it can only be suited for sheltered water!

Aluminum boats have been used all over the world with great results ESPECIALLY in Australia.

They are a lot lighter than Steel/Fiberglass/Wood and they don't rust.

They are easy to repair if you damage the hull (any proper welder can do it)

Fiberglass against Aluminum the same engine on an Aluminum boat will give you far superior performance.
