pushed along by a 20 hp Mariner 2 stroke.

Anyone got any esperience/opinion of either of these, or even both together?

I take it that it is a Strikeliner, the Fastiner is 19' ?
Other than that the Strikeliner (16) is a grand vessel. Not the most modern of hulls but is a good sea keeper, will slam in chop at speed but will wade through the slop at slow speeds. Being semi displacement I would reckon that 20hp will have it a little under powered. If I am not mistaken they used be recommended with 25hp and 24knts. Most examples I have seen have 25 or 30hp. She will fish two in comfort and three at a push though with 20hp and three guys she will struggle a bit on speed.

Adam S has been running one of these for over a year...

Apparently, Orkney did indeed make the Fastliner in 16 foot. I was surprised when I googled that.

I haven't seen the boat yet, I'll see it nearer the weekend, but the guy assures me it's says Fastliner on the boat.

Take your point about the engine size, I am a bit concerned that it's undersized for the hull type.

Yes I googled that myself and though there is a fastliner 16 listed there seems to be much confusion with people calling strikeliners fastliners etc. The only picture of a fastliner 16 that wasn’t a strikeliner looked like a longliner!!!

Post up a few pics if you can

Meanwhile, I found this: http://www.fishing-boats.info/ look on 16 - 19 foot boats and under orkney there's a review of the 16 foot Fastliner.

Ah Yes! I think the “fastliner” tag could be a bit of a misnomer here!
She looks more like a bigger coastliner. It looks to be a displacement hull and therefore a slogger rather than a speedster. I’d say that the 20hp will power this fine as speed will be limited in any case and a bigger engine will only push a wall of water.
