Boat fishing at night?

Rather than wrapping up the boat for the winter what with the early nights and weather windows to contend with, its a pain trying to get out, I'm contemplating doing some night fishing in Cork Harbour in the near future. It will only be at anchor, I'll be fully kitted with Nav lights, radar reflector etc and would probably look for a buddy boat as well just to be on the safe side. Has anyone done any boat fishing in darkness and if so, how did you get on?

We had planned to do this in the summer months for hounds, but ya know yourself we never got around to it.

Shouldnt be a problem if everything is in order and you know the area.

the main problem you will have is that you wont be able to see pot buoys, mooring etc
and you don't want to hit them at speed. It might be worth avoiding altogether areas festooned with
them. If its daylight heading out, keep your track well away from any you see,
and/or mark them, then follow the same track back in.

My experience boat angling at night is pretty limited, although I've done a bit. The biggest thing I found myself looking out for is the sea-state/swell/waves. You get very very limited warning to brace/balance yourself.

It's something you do automatically during the day, you're probably not even aware of doing it. At night it's different, you have to be more consiously aware of your situation and what's going on around you.

I've probably not explained myself clearly, but you get the gist of it. I love nights on a boat fishing, there's something extra magical about it.

pete fish the bank its safe and especially on big tides you wont even need lights done lots last year plenty blondes to specimens flats whiting and surprising lots of good conger this year fishing not so good slack on blonde front a couple but nothing huge still mackeral to
