Hi nailler, my pal and his wife are just back from two weeks fishing in Puetro Rico GC. Says they are catching Blue Marlin and Tuna there now. Mostly trolling where on a "hook up" each of the 6 or 8 punters gets to spend a few minutes in the fighting chair, reeling in and having their pic taken, see website (google "baracuda dos"or "barracuda dos".) Apparently there are four party boats there . My friends favour bottom fishing as opposed to sitting drinking all day when the boat is trolling. They fished with "Billy" on "Explora Mar" who apparently is fairly flexible when it comes to arranging your charter. I have not fished there and advise you to visit the marina to see the boats coming home and speak to the punters before committing yourself. Have a nice holiday and let's know you get on.

I went to Gran Canaria a few years ago and I went out on a charter boat with blue marlin 3.

There were some bluefin tuna sighted in the area on the day in question. So we trolled for 8 hours, only to get one hit and drop from a skipjack. It can be a very boring day when you are not getting anything.

That was no good for me. So, much to the girlfriends annoyance I went out again. This time I went out with Catfish (Catermeran). It was owned by an English bloke, who was really sound. He even gave me a deduction in the price.

We bottom fished for the whole day. Everyone was catching these rays. About 80lb weight. I was getting p&ed off thinking I was in for another days blank, when I got a very slight bite on my line. I picked it up thinking it was a small thing. I got a real shock when I tighted the line and the thing made a lunge. I have a great video(The guy on the boat films everything) of me fighting a huge ray and all the spanish guys standing around saying "Phaow, that is not a small fish my friend".

I'm jealous of you!!
