I was thinking of buying some waders, but I'm not sure what price range & type to go for. I know the answer is dependent on the type of fishing they will be used for, but if I give you an idea what I will need them for, could you recommend some?
1. Mainly for boat launch, and if comfortable enough kept on for fishing.
2. Small amount of beach fishing, and
3. Very small amount of river fishing.
Is it silly to spend big money, as they might get punctured with hooks?
Do you find it's better to remove them after launch and use other gear?
Do you have a particular brand you can recommend?
Thnx, Ken.

As a boater and when I used to do more shore angling (esp at night), I would definitely go for cheap neoprene waders. Not only do they keep you dry on launching, but warm in the winter dark on the beach. I usually take them off once I'm in the boat. Go for good breathables, with separate boots if you are wading/flyfishing in the summer months.

Hi Ken
I use Diawa neoprene chest waders for putting the boat in and I use them for winter beach fishing and they keep you very warm and dry but when I am on the boat I take them off as in the summer time they can be too warm an also they are not too expensive

I got shakespeare waders off ebay (new) for around 35 euro.
Its worth a look, a lot of tackle shops are on ebay that do not have retail outlets. They also don't have the overheads a shop does, so more often than not a bargain can be picked up.
Worth a try.

i recently got a pair of BHER nylon waders cream coloured from dun laoghaire angling 85euro.
they are fairly light duty but they are the most comfortable i have had you wouldn't know you had them on even after a 10 hour boat session.
as i done on a trip to cork last week all kinds of weather.
if i had my neoprene's with me my feet would have been wet and i would have sweat like a pig .
what ever you do dont go near RT neoprene last pair 12 weeks old and leaking at joint where boot meets neo pure s**t.

All, Thanks for the replies.
I think i'll go for a set of Daiwa neoprene chest waders from fleabay, they are only £39.99 + £6.99 postage, hopefully cant go wrong for that sort of money!
