Hi Lads,
Anyone want to offer an opinion on this reel. My mate is in the states next week and am looking to pick one up.
I would be using it mainly for downtiding for tope, ray and huss.
Cheers!!

Get two!
What price are they going for over there anyway?
I've got a couple of 5's and 10's, cracking reels.

Hi,
Look at the avet reels, built very strongly, good range of sizes and speeds, and nearly the same price, had many bearing changes on the tld15, though i do use them a lot.

The TLD 15 is $109 dollars.
And is it suitable for what i want, basically for animal bashing, treble sof dogs, then some tope, ray and huss fishing too??
Cheers Fellas'!

Bargain indeed. And it's ideal for what you have in mind. Of course, the Avet suggestion is a good one too. Something along the lines of an MX and a TLD15 instead of two TLDs...... :D

I'll go for the TLD15, I dont do a huge amount of boat fishing in fairness so am banking in the TLD to cover most things, so will be ordering one!
Cheers again lads!!

hi look at the shimano charter special a little moere versatile than the tld as can be used better for casting as it has breaks but has a level wind if you like them comes in two sizes I have the 1000 as a backup to the penns I have
the best one id recommend is the penn 975 ld or 975ldcs

I've heard that the working innards of a Charter Special are completely different to the TLD. Imo the Charter Special isn't anywhere near as robust.

To be honest, the innards of my TLD15 are a bit primitive - quite a shock when I opened it up, though still going strong after about 5-6 years. I reckon the Okumas are better value, but they are relatively overpriced in the US, compared to the UK, for some reason.
