warrior 165 ballast??

hi lads me and the aul lad took the boat of the marina to give it a service and to give it the once over before the season starts etc etc.
cut a long story short opened the inner bung to see was there any water in the inner hull cavity. next of all the water started to rip out and didnt stop for about 10 mins there must of been gallons in it, my question is lads do people fill this space purely for ballast? forgot to mention that the water was fresh water, the bro tasted it the sicko. there is a stow away compartment at the bow section that holds the anchor and in that compartment there is a sealed large bung maybe the rain water got in over the years and filled it to the brim??
so hopefully some one can clear this up for us especially the lads with warriors. ps i can show some pics if needed

Pics would help Brian, but I'm guessing that the water was rain water that entered via the anchor locker or maybe the inside of the hull somewhere. Give her a good once over to see if there is anywhere obvious where water might be coming in. I have heard of the anchor locker problem beforem so that would be my guess. Never owned a warrior so I'm only guessing here.

Just had a thought Brian,

Try filling the Anchor locker with a bucket or 2 of water and mark the level.... leave it for an hour or 2 (with the bung in). Check to see if the level has gone down at all.. If the level has gone down, open the bung and see if any water comes out....

Hard to tell from the picture Brian. There is a facility for the water to drain out from the anchor locker on the warriors. The problem I have heard off is water seeping into the hull from the anchor locker.... I think this might be the problem. Only way to test is is to put a few buckets of water into the anchor locker and see if the level moves over a couple of hours...

As for the bro..... :lol: enough said, the poor fecker.

hi brian, yea its going threw the anchor locker i had the same problem on my last 165 i opened the bung and got a fright when i seen what water came out .not sure if theres a way of fixing it just empty it every now and then.

remember your anchor rope will hold so much water so it could be some from that. also if you power hose it clean could be some getting in via that.

its the space between the double skins so its not a huge worry unless the entry point is on the outside.

look for a stone chip or blow below the water line. just in case.

ye we checked the whole hull with a fine tooth comb no chips or any likely source of entry on her. she is sealed up at the point where the water was getting in and she is back on the marina and she going like a dream

It may not have been tightened prperly the first time.

On the brighter side of things, 1 gallon of water weighs 10lb, so it looks like you lost the weight of one unwanted passenger.

hi donal,
ye i checked everything first before i took the large bung out. when the water was coming out of the inner hull i could hear the air being sucked in in the anchor stow away. so when i checked the seal was totally perished like i said everything is sound thank god.
the last time i was out i took the bung out all seemed fine well there was no water :D
