New Warrior for Cork shores

Well ordered myself a new 175 the other day.. should have it in 3-4 weeks...coming kitted out ready for fishing...
big savings at the moment with sterling conversion compared to last year...
hope to get around this year between cork and kerry with her, any marks would be appreciated.

Warriors are probably the best boat for blue water fishing around Ireland. I'd even put them ahead of Orkneys and I've owned one of them.

Looking seriously at trying to import from the USA, looking at a 22 foot walkaround, for quieter water fishing in Clew Bay, cheap as chips relative to a year ago. Anyone heard of some sort of interesting fiddle (legal) whereby you import them via the Azores and avoid all duties etc?

Just thought it was worth asking!

As for marks, Jim and Sean Clohessy are the boys, they'll help out and ring it along to the Small Boats and follow a few of those guys! :wink:

My 1st Boat - Always used to fish of Courtmac. Have been thinking about getting my own for the last 12 months, when the sterling weakened lately i said why not!
The boat is coming with the new honda 90, with a honda 5 auxillary. I was going to go the road of a 135 but Warrior recommended to stick with the 90 as there isnt major gains to be got with the 135. they recommended the 90.

Spec;
warrior 175 std spec with Navy blue stripe, all handrailing's and grab rails.
braked Rapide roller trailer with lighting boards straps prop bag & hub flushing system
90 Honda fully fitted - should push approx. 30knots with 2 in boat im been told. 90/100 litre fuel tank.
pulpit rails
bow cushions
bridge & lights
independent compass
lowrance 515df fishfinder
lowrance 5200 gps chartplotter and chart
icom 411 dsc radio
warrior 8 inch letters both sides
6 rodholders
half canopy

What have you on the back of your's Jim? How is the fuel economy? Will a full tank do you when your going out 30 - 40 miles wrecking?

I asked about upgrading to a garmin electronics package, but was told that with the new honda engines and the garmin, the engine management system linked into electronics is not 100% yet, and same is been developed etc. and they reckon till be over 12 months by the time its going/proven etc..

I spoke to the local warrior agent, they have a kitted boat similiar to above, and price tag was approx. 34.5k euros... i would think same was brought in prior to the sterling taking a hit over the last few months. have a saving of approx. 7k by buying direct.

best of luck with it you wont be disappointed did you get hydraulic steering on it when i got mine last year i only had it a few weeks and had to change to hydraulic the non feedback wasn't that great for the size of engine 100hp mariner.

I didnt get the hydraulic steering as they recommended anything at 90 or under you wont need it. Anything above it they would recommend upgrading to it. Time will tell i suppose?
Was there much invoved in changing over to hydraulic - is it something that one could do themselves if they were mechanically minded etc..

no problem putting it in i emailed paul at warrior and he sent me an email explaining what to do there exellent that way . you saved some money going direct with it as dick in cork is way to expensive with them.
