One for the Cork lads!

Myself and some friends needed a break from college last wedensday :roll: :lol: so we decided to head out fishing in their boat from crosshaven, we only managed a strap conger and a rockling, not great for 3 and half hour in the cold.
Dont do much boat fishing and wer thinking of heading out again soon weather permitting!.....just wondering what bait, rigs, general area to fish and what we should expect to get, would be great help.

Your best bet is to dig some lug or rag at this time of the year and fish the turbot bank(west of red bouy No.6), sandy area outside bouy no.2(just outside Roches Point) or south of E4 (black and yellow inside Roches Point)for codling, dabs and plaice.
Use plenty of beads etc, you could tip your baits with mackerel for to attract whiting.Paternoster traces can be handy to avoid tangles, especially if there are small fish picking at the baits.Baited hokkais can also work.

You could also just drift the harbour rock & fish with jellyworms, shads, or redgills. You'll pick up pollack & codling - even at this time of year. We had a trip last year at this time.
