Hi Roadrunner. I bought the same model from Malthouse Marine on ebay. 850 euro, including full detailed chart of western Ireland (basic chart was also on it), dual frequency transponder, the lot. If you can spare the additional 500squids   .. go for it. Malthouse delivered within 5 days. Here their ebay address.. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Malthouse-Marine. The guy I dealt with was Martin Smith and was very good to so business with. The original cost was nearer 900 euro but he rounded it down. Can't ask for more than that.

Thanks for the replies lads

Decision made Garmen 550s with ext aerial, transom mounted transducer with optional temp and speed log. The unit comes complete with chart of Ireland on it which is supposed to be as accurate as the local charts.

Total price E1190

What do ye think :?: :?:

By the way the dealer also does Prowler yaks

You should really consider getting these from the states you can get far cheaper.
I got my Navman GPS $606 and Navman fishfinder $570 both of which were priced at E870 each in Marine parts in Swords and even after they were stopped by customs and cost E250 extra I still saved big time.
I will dig out web address if your interested.

That's really expensive Redcar Marine in the UK sell em for £100 sterling which works out about €145 and you will also have them via Niteline couriers within 2 days. You will find it hard to beat their Bluechart card prices.

Here is their e-bay shop (if what you want isn't here just e-mail them):

Hi lads i just checked out the Redcar site and the basic model of the 550s costs £699.99 = E1015 That doesn't include optional ext antenna which is E70 or temp meter which is E100 extra.

Sometimes if you shop local it pays off

Hi Danny,

They can be very slow to update their website, give them a call or e-mail them for their current prices, that price may be well outdated by now.

Hi Jim the GPS is only new out the irish distributors don't even have it in stock but the guy i did the deal with is one of my local tackle shops and he is only after getting a garmen agency. I had another quote from a marine chandler for almost the same price and when i told my man of the price he beet it, He also says that he will trow in some tackle as well. the only problem i have now is that it may take up to a week to arrive.

All i need now is to get on the water and start fishing

Jesus its going to look bad when i blank now

Hi Dezzer,

Those little cards are a money racket for sure!
I was quoted €265 about 2 weeks ago here locally and they didn't even blush

That's how I found Redcar's prices :)
