New Boat....

Hello All,

I'm new to this site. It looks excellent and very informative.
My brother and I are based in Dublin and have recently acquired a 16ft Orkney longliner with 10-hp Honda engine (new). It is in the Isle of Mann at the moment and we hope to bring it over in the next couple of weeks. We do mainly coarse fishing inland but have done some sea fishing in the past and we are looking forward to getting into some sea fishing with our new boat. We are both comfortable using boats and have over 20 years merchant navy service between us.

I was wondering what the east coast of Ireland (Dublin area) is like in general for sea fishing from a boat? I have heard that you need to go out quite far for good fishing on the east coast.. is this the case??

Also I tried to post a wanted ad in the buy and sell section but was unable to do so. I'm looking for a suitable trailer for the boat. Could anybody recommend somewhere where i might find such a trailer??

Any advice would be much appreciated.

The report section will give you an idea of the fishing along the east coast, not very familiar with the area myself.

welcome to the site. your best bet for the trailer is to look for one on the isle of man [cheaper and plentiful] depending on what type of fish your hunting the east coast does alright. macks pollock codling. but as you will be launching and retreiving the whole island is at your mercy
