Fish finder transducer - tip

Tue Jun 19, 2007 7:37 am

For many years I have had my transducer mounted on the transome. Now, having changed boats, I have tried the transducer mounted on the inside of the hull. What a difference ! The display is now much more useful at speed and there 'appear' to be more fish about !
Do be aware, however, that hull mounted transducers do not work so well when the hull is constructed of composite materials.

Interesting, was it a big job to have it built into the hull Peter?

You are supposed to be able to araldite the external transducer to shoot thru the fibreglass, I've had 2 tries now and ended up goning back to transom mount now, ended up with a weaker signal and lost bottom at speed!

For instructions see http://www.lowrance.com/Manuals/Files/x ... 112003.pdf

Pages 17 to 20 of manual.

Do be aware that your hull must be solid, not composite, and without voids at the transducer's location.

So given these conditions, it is a reasonably straightforward task.
