Monday 5th June

Off the rocks/cliffs past Douglas breakwater

People: Me

Duration: 10:00-12:30

Tide: dropping

Weather: again fantastic

Bait: Rag / Feathers

Rigs: Pennel rig

Results: 2 Ballan Wrasse

Report:Nothing to the feathers this time  but the rag worked well unfortunately i only had a few left from Sunday if i had more i would have stayed all day.The main problem with this mark is its quite dangerous(would never fish it again on my own).Good points are your straight into deep water and it seems to be teeming with good wrasse.

TUE 15th August

The Sound

Spent an hour or so on the rocks here there was a big swell and weather was terrible tried spinning for a while with no results.Started fishing in close with lug and picked up a few small wrasse.Unhappy with the results and soaked to the skin I decided to head up north a few miles from the point of Ayre on the West coast (should have stayed put) This was a pebble beach with more weed in the breakers than water the result here was 3 launce to a spinner and a shredded 30lb snood on the baited rod to what must have been a tope.packed up and went home to a cup of coco.

Thur 17th

Took a run to the Point of Ayre again a pebble beach but this time crystal clear water. Results where 1 Coalie and 1 LSD to Mackerel and sandeel baits and 1 Launce to the trace.

By this stage I was getting very depressed with my choice of marks

Terry site admin of http://www.manxshorefishing.com/ very kindly offered to take me out for a few hours before I left the island. This has to be up there as one of the best days fishing I've ever had.Things started off quite quiet and just picking up Mackerel but after a few changes of spinner I caught my personal best Callig (Pollock) which was soon beaten by my new personal best which was soon beaten again 5 in total and all good fish (in my opinion anyway). Also caught two good sized Wrasse and a couple of LSD.

Moral of toady's Lesson seek local knowledge whenever possible

What would it be like in november, I am for Douglas with the bird and looking a day then later in the week a night ? :?

Go to http://www.manxshorefishing.com/ It's a great site and with its own forum and a helpful bunch of members.

This is a quote from the calendar section for November.

"A lot depends on the weather, but callig and wrasse are still there to be caught by day, and congers are certainly there by night, but this month will see a marked decline in the summer species. Codling fishing becomes much more realistic, but it can be hard work wading through the large packs of dogfish."

Best of luck and keep me informed on how you get on and don't forget to post a report
