ACUNDA CAMP

The island is tiny at about 300 X 250 M. when the tide is high and much larger at low tide. It could be defined as a little bit of paradise.

Fishing is good for the island.

The accommodation is in small basic shacks that have twin beds and a bathroom. They could be defined as adequate for the job and as you are only likely to sleep there at night that is fine.

There is no fresh water there and so water for washing is saline and as it comes up through lava rock it is brown in colour. However, the absence of water has the advantage of there being no mosquitoes on the island.

In the morning the view from each room is over the lagoon ….what a start to the day!!
The dining and bar area fronts onto the small beach. So it is possible to fire a bait out into the channel or towards the mangroves and have a beer. Beat that!!

On the last night locals from the nearby island came to pay us a visit banging drums and singing. The dancing was magic and the crack mighty. Never mind the local disco this was the real stuff.

Yes lads it is the best place on earth to go if you want the best fishing on earth!! Robson Greene had a show on it on channel 5 last Monday week and he was raving about it.

We are going in Feb/Mar 2012 and there might be a few places available if you are interested.

With the exception of beach equipment everything is supplied. The rods and reels are generally Daiwa. There is a selection of lures provided. Poopers are used for the jacks & Leerfish. Snappers also take these but only if fished slowly. I found a walk-the-dog lure much better. Most of the barracuda were taken when trolling,


Bait was generally mullet but if any Spanish mackerel were caught they were a lot better.

DON’T LOOSE BIG FISH!!!
Never underestimate the strength of a big fish; they can bend most manufactures hooks. If you are using your own lures please check with the guide to make sure your hooks and split rings are strong enough.
From experience we have found that simplicity and strength are the key rules. Some anglers prefer to use cross lock clips for attaching their lures, for this reason we provide heavy duty cross lock clips in your box.
PLEASE LOOK AFTER YOUR TACKLE PACK !
It is in your interest to look after the tackle in this pack because if damaged you have to pay for , but also because anglers following you who hire the tackle would I am sure appreciate you leaving it , in the state you would like to receive it yourself state . Obviously we replace any unserviceable items , but because of the remote location it is not always easy to supply of this type of equipment as you can imagine , so please take care not to throw away too many swivels etc if they can be reused because they may be in short supply for the next guy. Thanks for your assistance in this matter as I am sure you would agree everyone should have the best chance possible of that fish of a lifetime.

Please carefully check the rods reels that you are hiring from us because if they are returned broken we cannot accept the excuse that it was broken when you started the safari.
We do our very best to insure the tackle is in good order but on rare occasions you might, for example, find the top ring is missing or has a hairline crack. Please notify our staff as soon as you collect the pack if you find anything defective. So it can be changed.
Lost lures are charged for at the price listed which is the same and lower than UK retail prices. There are no charges for fish damaged lures so long as the lure is returned with your hired tackle box.
About Your Hired Fishing Tackle
The rods we provide are heavy duty. Experienced anglers might prefer to use a lighter rod but beware. A lot of the fish you are likely to catch are in the 10lb to 40lb class with Jacks , they are controllable , but the Snappers and Groupers head straight for home , meaning you need a big heavy rod to stop the initial runs.
Faulty Lures
Lures get damaged by big fish and as a result they might not run true but normally our guides will be able to adjust these lures for you. When we are putting together the tackle box for you it’s impossible for us to tell from sight alone which lures might be damaged so please help us to help others by marking out damaged lures which cannot be repaired

PLEASE TAKE AT LEAST 300mts of 50lb Casting braid and 300mts of 80 lb braid suitable for a multiplier.
