people:me and onur

duration:2 hours

tide:?????????

weather:46 degrees during the day 32 at night

bait: bread

rigs:weird

results:blank

report:took a bus from bitez to kusadasi to meet up with onur and as he is from turkey he insisted that he took me fishing.we found a small harbour where he lives and i nearly died when i saw all the mullet in the harbour.unfortunately he said that it is forbidden to fish for these mullet inside the harbour for some reason.so we fished the outside of the harbour for mullet.the rig was very weird its a local method for catching mullet its basically 11 size 4 hooks close together on one line wrapped around a chunk of bread and left there for a while.after two hours we gave up and as we walked back we saw a guy catch two nice bass about 2lbs each.still enjoyed it as it was the hottest weather i have ever fished in

That's the same method they use all across the Med. It works reasonably well, if you're trying to get a meal, but it's no fun if you're angling. I always use light gear with size 10-6 hooks, and I find ragworm and shrimp to be the best baits, although I've had to fall back on bread occasionally.

I'm off to Mallorca tomorrow with my BeastMaster. But she'll probably lie on the beach all day - just as well I'm bringing a rod.
