Top class report. :D

Those green goblin pirks - do they have a really weird "fluttering" type of action as they're dropping?

Yep, they flutter like mad all the way to the bottom.

Thought it was them - i had a fantastic day out with a blue coloured one 6 or 7 years ago in Dungeness, England. Two fish per drift - first one as the pirk touched down, drift lasted long enough to bring it in and drop again to immediately hook a second fish.

Best cod I had that day was 17 3/4 lb from a sunken submarine. I took it off after 12 fish and shared it around the boat so everyone that was struggling could get a fish.

Never saw anything like it before or since. Fantastic day's wrecking.

:D

We were there last summer with temperatures around 6-10C, and are heading over again in late July. I can't imagine fishing in what you experienced - it was bad enough in June when the wind came up & lifted the sea instantly, without adding the snow.

The fishing is great all around there, but I have to admit a certain frustration with dropping a large pirk 200m and then retrieving it with only a 2kg haddock - exhausting work after a while. Of course, if I caught a 2kg haddock here I'd be cheering for a week.

The wolffish though are amazingly aggressive: they actually go for you. When I caught one & saw all those teeth, I decided discretion was the better part of valour & released it by the boat. One of the others insisted on a photo and dropped his into the boat: it was pretty funny watching him dance to get away from those teeth.

All in all, the most amazing fishing I've ever had. I'm hoping for a halibut this time - a dinner table on a pirk sounds fun.

Well done guys, some fantastic fish caught there, I'm very impressed.
Sounds like it would cost you a small fortune to get drunk over there, but with fishing like that, I'm sure going to the pub was the last thing on your minds!
It would take you to be vegetarian with the price of the burgers too! Mad!
Great pictures and report, well done again.
