Erosion

I was down in the S Wicklow area yesterday and the erosion from the stormy weather is very evident, in one area the local CO had a surveyor out checking the area. Ennereilly didn't look too bad but then the top of the beach is well up from the high water mark. Arklow seems to be down at least two feet. for anyone who knows the slipway at the middle of the main car park, I could sit on that with my feet not reaching the ground.

Interesting. Another spot I fish regularly has a lot of new sand. I haven't seen the beach this high in this place in my lifetime, and I've spent every summer there since at least 1987.

I'm not naming it because with the new sand, it looks like a gem of a spot for Bass ;)

At a guess, the beach is about 5 feet higher than usual. Rocky reefs where I used to plug for bass are now high and dry on the beach ... :?

We want our sand back..
quite a few of our beaches this side have lost sand 2 foot in places..
should make interesting fishing now... deeper water and all that :? :)

this has happened one of our beaches down here.there appears to be about 20 ft of sand in one part missing.where a slip runs down to the beach there is now a 15ft sand cliff.whats interesting is that this was at its worst in december when we had the constant strong winds, but in the last few wks with lighter winds the sand has begun to deposit again.i guess its just a natural cycle of erosion and deposition.
