Thats exactly why I and a lot of others are against posting Pictures of obviously dead fish, gives organizations like that plenty of ammunition to use against us

Thats a load of crap.
one thing that bothers me is that in some of their articles they mention the RSPCA. Now i have nothing against that organization, but i have never heard of anything do do with fishing coming out them?? :?
has the RSPCA always been against fishing?

ITs a worry I suppose but these groups are usually very small.
anyone for a week long fishing competition from the 16-24 of june
Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:33 pm
guys, in time these kind of groups can be a really serious threat to our sport, we have to be careful as to how we present our sport and ourselves whilst out fishing and how we report it all back into the public domain, at the end of the day if we can prove that we make the effort to catch and release it gives these kinds of groups less ammo to fire at us in the future
Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:40 pm
just had a funny thought :D maybe we should all join with angling themed usernames

funny how they don't seem to care about the methods envolved in the killing of fish animals and birds for the table.

TBH some of their replies haven't been thought out. More a case of foot and mouth.
OPEN WIDE now.

9. "Angling keeps young people off the streets and away from violence."
This argument keeps coming up. At least "hanging around on street corners" does not generally involve inflicting pain on sentient beings! Violence on the streets or violence on the waterways - what's the difference? There are plenty of other ways to involve youngsters in countryside projects and activities. We learn of many cases each year in which anglers are involved in murder, drug dealing and violence to each other. One man killed his neighbour because his parked car prevented him from going fishing! Neil Acourt, one of the people accused of murdering Stephen Lawrence is an angler.
11. "People have fished since the dawn of time."
At some point during our evolution our intelligence developed to the extent whereby we were able to catch fish - probably by the use of a spear and then some form of net. Fishing with rod, line and hook came later.
Fish were hunted as a source of food. Today we know that we do not need to consume fish (or indeed any animal products) in order to survive. All the vitamins, minerals and food groups necessary for good health are available from non-animal sources. There is therefore no need for our species to continue fishing and there is certainly no excuse for inflicting pain upon fish purely for pleasure, as does the coarse angler.
These 2 items are just a sample of the rubbish people believe. If human beings in the above article are not to eat flesh of any kind we would all starve. Vegans and so on say they don't eat any flesh products, what then do you call the inside of an orange or any item that needs peeled,
THATS RIGHT IT IS FLESH.
My only wish is that this is not taken seriously by anyone with the ability to think rationaly.

That is what they said.
Can anyone find a news article when this happened?
Please tell me what kind of a world we live in where so called intelligent people are spouting rubbish like that?
Is this what they mean by free speech or a load of cobblers?

Funny isnt it ... or is it ?
Fox Hunting was recently banned in England ... :!:
Take a look at the BASC website ( British Association for Shooting and Conservation) See any pictures of fluffy bunnys hanging from a belt, or a deer being quatered ? No and you wont, the BASC people try and promote a positive side to their sport, and dont give the antis any ammo to use against them
Freshwater Anglers have got the message , why cant Sea Anglers ?
