Ballycotton - Killing Doggies

Postby JimC » Mon Mar 02, 2020 11:34 am

Taken from Facebook 22/2/2020:
Just arrived at Ballycotton pier to wet a line and was greeted by this sight. I have a fair idea who was responsible too for this attrosity..... This sickens me to my core.

The angler counted 13 doggies caught and abandoned. Terrible carry on. The gist of the discussion seems to be that it was done by "anglers" apparently a cohort of wankers that regularly fish the area.

That's disgusting. I understand that people might kill a dogfish for use as pot bait, but to just kill them for no good reason and leave them there is pretty desperate

is it not just a spill out of box to be used for pot bait?
killing them for the sake of it by a supposed angler is ridiculous

Seen a fella try this with one dog fish before. While he was casting I walked over and grab the dogfish by the tail and lobbed into the ocean.

Wouldnt hesitate to do it again.

What a horrible thing to do, is there even anything you can do to put a stop to that?

Makes no sense, dogs are the only thing to catch there on ground bait there in my experience.
