Rant!!

Little rant here after fishing yesterday. I know this forum is for sea angling but yesterday I was doing a spot of perch fishing on a nearby river. I set up next to two eastern european gentlemen. They were float fishing with maggots or whatever and I was lure fishing. They started catching a few fish. They were very small and they put them in a keep net. They had small children with them so I thought that maybe they were keeping them to show the children at the end if the session.

Well after a while they started catching fish again and they went straight to the keep net as well. I caught a nice perch and a small dace, and when I threw them back I got looks of disgust from the two gentlemen. They soon started to pack up and when they took up the keep net I was waiting for them to show the kids and throw them back but nope straight into the back of the van. Must have been over 10 tiny perch and dace. I took the registration down but I didn't say anything because my temper was raging and I didn't want to start a fight. Something needs to be done. Its all well having rules but when they aren't being followed by some certain kinds of people something needs to happen. Im absolutely fuming because you are only allowed keep 4 coarse fish on this river!! Rant over

You on Facebook? There's a fb page dedicated to exposing this sort of poacher in Ireland. Not just EE poachers either, they'll expose Irish poachers just as happily.

oh breamers boy if that made you angry the other day which I totally understand that facebook page is going to hurt even more. Been following that page for a while now and I'm thinking of unfollowing that page. Its shocking stuff, it is hard to look at it, private fisheries will be the future of Irish fishing if the government don't act soon..
