Lobster pots

what's up with the amount of lobster pots being placed at known fishing marks and piers around cork, it's actually starting really get on my nerves.
The placing of the pots to me seems like a two finger salute to anglers who pleasure fish these marks.
Ropes have been attached between some which means reeling in fish results in the loss of weight and rig as well as the fish, sometimes it feels like a victory just to keep on to the shock leader.
I know guys have to make a living but these pots seem to be more about p ing people off .
when I've asked about them I'm told it's done to p off the eastern Europeans, a statement that baffles me because im sure the pots havent evolved to stage that they can tell the difference between race and skin colour when snagging a line.
As soon as a way to fish around them is found another pot goes down.
Is there a license needed for these pots ?
The pier and breakwater in ballycotton and the walkway in Cobh two prime mackerel bashing spots I don't think it's a coincidence.

A lot of these may be shrimp pots. As long as anglers are dumping used bait and fish guts into the water in front of them the lobster and shrimp will gather there for an easy meal and the boatmen will put there pots there for easy pickings.

You do need a licence to sell your catch and should have your no. On your bouy!never heard of fishing to stop anglers ,but not from cork so can't comment. But in Donegal it just done for badness ..... had to tell a friend of mine to stop shooting across gunnwell and he did!! They're not all bad.

There Shrimp pots ,season in full swing now,whoever told you that is probably only taking the piss, the area around ballycotton is prime shrimp ground .

That's fair enough and yes earn away I have absolutely no problem with guys making a living it's the joining of buoys with ropes that run parallel to the walls and piers that was annoying me. I think I lost a few weights, rigs and shockleaders the night I originally posted in areas where there are usually no snags next session I just avoided them completely.

Dont understand that unless they're trying to sink the bouy ropes to stop other boats getting fouled in them, to be honest its more dangerous for them when hauling pots to have hooks stuck in the ropes , I doubt it if they are doing this to piss people off.

All the pots were gone last night, like you said Kieran probably didnt mean to piss people off realised the mistake and moved them. cheers
