A recent family holiday in Brittany this summer gave me a new perspective on our fishing here in Ireland.

I was in Brittany for 3 weeks during which time I fished a variety of methods (of the rocks) about a dozen times. Also, there were plenty of others out fishing too. Through out that entire time I didn't have a bite nor see anybody else catch a thing.

I'm fairly confident that if I was dropped at any location along the north or East coast I'd be able to catch something albeit small.

In France everything caught goes in the pan.

In summary, irish fishing might not be what it was but it's still better than a lot of places.
