Hi Guys,
I found some information on this site saying that you need a license for shore angling in Spain.
I just got the following back from the tourist centre in the town I'm going to:
Sea fishing from the coastline in Spain don’t need license.
only some restrictions: Maximum 5 kg of fish per day and Maximum 2 fishing rods with maximum 6 hooks per person.
Some Areas have also restrictions, beaches, Port……
Thought it might be of interest to some.

Thanks for that, but what town is it, and is that a local bylaw? Been investigating the situation for Lanzarote and technically you do need a licence, but many visiting anglers say the police never hassle tourists about it. I'm tempted to chance it as the procedure for getting a Spanish shore licence would take up half the holiday....

The town is called Moraira, between Alicante and Valencia on the Eastern Coast.
I think the best thing to do is contact the most local tourist office you can find, that's what I did.
They're normally pretty helpful and have local info.
I'm going to print out the official reply and bring it with me, so if I get stopped I can show that I at least went to the effort of trying to follow the local rules.

Thanks for the links, Donal, makes you appreciate our own guards.....
Bluebeard, that's interesting but I'd say its a local derogation aimed at the tourist trade, I'll probably play safe. I was hoping to get a Lanzarote licence online but there doesnt seem to be a local website for it. Spanish beaurocracy is nearly worse than ours....

Dunno what the rules are for spain but im going to portugal next may and getting a licence is meant to be pretty akward due to needing a portuguese bank account. Ive organised with the owner of our apartment to buy one for me before i arrive. Hes gonna sort it and it will be waiting for me in the apartment when i get there. Its not much hassle for him to do it and he happily agreed.

Great idea! I'm going to one of those time-share compounds with a big service office, I'll get on to them. Thanks Red.
