March against the cages coming soon to your shore

Sat Apr 20, 2013 12:50 pm

i think the salmon and sea trout anglers are putting up a great fight against the proposed cages in Galway bay

this proposal is then due to be implemented in other bays round our shore/coastline

their concerns are high especially in relation to lice on the above species

but i think our sea species will be hurt from all the effluent coming out of these cages and the various chemicals added to them in their management - not to mind sourcing of feed etc.

i think we sea anglers need to let it be known that we are stakeholders in all of this as well and are likely to lose out

taoiseach kenny and minister ring are going to be in castlebar next saturday the 27th

a march is being planned by the FISSTA starting in the chapel lane car park in castlebar at 2pm

i think any sea anglers that can make it should and make our presence felt

the sea angling in the inner bay has decreased over the last few decades - with the net ban the sea trout have made some recovery and the bass commercial ban has led them to return to some extent

these cages will put paid to the bay on all fronts

Please come out and show your support

Unfortunately only 70 approx turned up
promotion of the event must have been poor as many people claimed they never heard it was on and would have attended
a pity
