http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/op ... 27605.htmlGrim stuff this in particular "Firstly, we need more raw material — we can achieve this in a number of ways, including the development of new salmon farms, harvesting new species such as boarfish, and by attracting foreign landings into our processing plants. Last year, Irish processors managed to attract over 80,000 tonnes, or 25% of total production from foreign vessels."

Considering the above piece, is it irresponsible that we have celebrity chefs encouraging people to consume more fish ?

I would have to reckon that this piece is part of of BIM "love bomb" or spin - preparing the public for increased salmon farming etc.
How long will the boarfish last I wonder? - It is incredible that these little fish are now deemed to be so important! "New Species" me hole

Let's switch from species to species until there's nothing left. What's next an Amoeba fishery!

Remember Blue Whiting? They were trumpeted as the salvation of the fleet at one time. Gone the way of all fish flesh now...

We already waste half of all food produced in this world. i know we need money, but please please stick to selling wind farms in the midlands and leave our fish alone.

Who are these people? They live in cloud cuckoo land.
I'm with all of the posters on this, from the poor little boarfish (destined for fish meal) to the blue whiting (reduced to fishmeal), to fishing down the remaining food chain, to the humble plankton (ocean lifes building block).
Donal Buckley (Business Dev' Mgr, BIM) I don't know what you earn, however I'm sure it's quite substantial. Aren't you a lucky boy to be in a position to get paid to spin such drivel.
The worst thing is that you are let, with the greater crime being that you draw your income from a large cohort of taxpayers who you are equally supposed to serve, and well see through your bulls##t.

We should send Mr Buckley a complimentary copy of "Overkill".
