Realising the potential of Irsh Bass!

Things like this really need to be brought to the attention of decision makers. If after seeing this they still can't see the greatness that can be achieved in the Irish Bass angling sector then they need to stand down from their positions:

The bit that really angers me is that they dont seem to comprehend why we have the current commercial ban. Its very frustrating, as we all know. What is their reaction when we put this to them..? "We will manage it better this time..?" I have sent my e-mail and letter and not just once, just remains to be seen what happens next. (Ok rant over)

John

Things like this.... there are lots of things like this that exist in isolation that come and go all of the time. One of the main reasons I continue to post to my website is to facilitate continued 'visibility' around the viability of what we have in this country -I'm of the opinion that if its generating lots of traffic it helps me and the fishing both to

1.Run the business AND

2.And increase public awareness of the issues surrounding bass fishing (conservation, commercial threat, activity, techniques etc)

The more views I get to the site the more people are aware of the issues hence any negative proposal can be met with larger opposition

HOWEVER

I am a single entity that is a small part of a bigger picture and I cannot be perceived to self promote to the extent of boredom. Hence I make a post on my site like the one above, I might post it here if its relevant or linking to a thread, most times I probably do not. In a few days the relevance is lost as the post moves off.

People visiting this country to bass fish constantly refer to Editorial - its a major customer winning strategy. There are lots of things like this done regularly that simply disappear.

What bothers me is that these things are all done in perfect isolation, and I've mentioned this before - the wider network is a paranoid emptiness, vacant and bereft of the simple ability to spread something like a good news Irish angling story as simple as this last post, any further.

Wheres the positivity, the links, a mere mention even, is their a sense of pride demonstrated anywhere, by any angling website, organisation, journalist, or person that this is a recent example of many others that Irish bass fishing has to offer the world - I don't think so.

I was asked once why was I writing articles about Richie Ryan a saltwater bass fishing guide in Cork Hbr, surely he must be a competitor of yours Jim?

Competitor or collaborator? I guess its how you look at it!

Yes John, and parochial politics need to dissolve and disappear to be replaced with open transparency and trust. Somewhere along the line we need to cluster our offering of disparate strengths and start promoting what our strengths are.
