It's not often we get a bit of bass angling on RTE . If you have time try to watch a programme called "On The Fly" on RTE 1 this coming Sunday morning at 10.45am.
It features Michelin star chef Derry Clarke trying to catch bass on the fly and then doing a bit of cooking.
My reason for getting involved in the programme was to show that the best way to enjoy bass as food is not to open up a commercial fishery for them in Ireland. Far better to spent the time and money to learn to fish for them and keep one for the pot every now and then. It gives so much more to the economy and is sustainable. I hope that message comes across. Let me know what you think.

Well, I think they were neoprene but I don't think he has been in to many fishing programmes so it may be the same one. It has been shown on Setanta before but it's nice to see RTE showing it.

That was enjoyable to watch and nicely shot. You seemed to get the sustainable angling message subtly across. Nice that he actually landed one too! I must watch the pike episode as well.
