This afternoon I decided to report a few suspicious looking individuals which were in the process to set up camp (with all the mod cons, really) at a popular local angling spot here to An Garda Síochána.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a spoilsport, I try my best to let them get on with their lives (just watch them a bit

) - but past experience has told me better, especially now with the good weather and lake boats and engines stupidly left by their owners and moored unguarded here at the lake.
Nevertheless, I bow my head to all the Guardia concerned!
During my initial phone call I was promised a patrol car immediately (to an area where extensive engine and boat thefts have taken place in the not so distant past) - and I am glad being able to tell you that safe access to these for us so valuable amenities was restored to benefit the environmentally conscious and serious angler and tourist - and all of that was achieved without breaking the peace or endangering anyone's lives or health.
Where there is a will, there is a way!

Well done lads!!!

Good to hear of the prompt response of the garda, well done to them!
One thing I don't understand though, what exactly were these individuals doing which forced their eviction? Is suspicious activity enough?

no Viper, suspicion alone would not be enough, offenses like littering a high amenity area and breaking down a barrier recently erected by the council were sufficient reason though to move them on swiftly.

I had reason to report a group of "anglers" last night and happy to report a speedy response from the IFI.
Good to see and hear of.

what do you mean by ''anglers'' mikesound?
i mean it works the other way too,i have seen grumpy old anglers, dressed to the hilt in flotation suits on a f@#kn pier, getting odd at a couple of young ''anglers'' for having a laugh and a cast at the same time,
dont get me wrong like,i cant walk past a fishing shop without spending 20 bob,so i hve everything i need and more, anyways,
i was situated between both parties, and could hear the older more ''distinguished'' grunt discouragingly at the young ''anglers'' catches of small herring, while they merrily enjoyed their day.BOTH PARTIES WERE DRINKING,allthewhile the the older lads catching f@#k all.the sun went down and under the cover of dusk,
like true snakes in the grass all the older lads cans of stout were stashed in the abundance of new, fresh, top of the line tackle boxes, and a phone shone from the dark and went up to one of the mens ear..i could vaguely hear him moan and complain,in the sweetest most feeble old man voice, that some young lads on the pier were disrupting their nights fishing, with obscenities, and they were drinking when there was kids around.total bolloxs.i f@#king hate liars.no kids no obscenities and they were drinking too.
dont get me wrong,if what the old lad was saying was true,g'won then ring johnny law.if they were vandalising things and being aggresssive or offensive to other anglers or having no respect for the mark...finest.ring johnny law,but for christsake..these boys were a bit long in the tooth to be making up stories, telling tales to the fuzz...
within ten minutes a squad pulled up,cleared the young lads out of it,took their few beers, and 1 cop even went as far as cuttin the lads line with trace bait and weight still in the water...
the only thing going thru my head was the actions of the older party was nothing less than downright f@#king shameful, pis#ed me off.the second the young lads were ran out of there the old lads swooped in on their spot like hungry old sh#tty dirtbirds, back out came the cans of stout.they caught fu@k all i am happy to report, and i hope they never have any luck again for it...
we're all in the gutter, but there are some of us who look to the stars...

@ lucky13
I appreciate your reply, although please forgive me for not being able to grasp the points you might be trying to make in relation to the topic of this thread.
Furthermore, as far as I am unable - and therefore please excuse my ignorance, to see the purpose of the refined details of your comments, apart from the fact that you were witness to offences worthwhile to bring these to the attention of the relevant authorities.
May I ask you if you have you done that? And which was the response received or actions taken to the account of your reports?

Calm Bull!
@ lucky13
The "anglers" I mentioned were trying to strip a lake of tench and eels for food.
Nothing to do with old people, young people, drink, tackle, cops or lies but feel free to vent away, we all need to let off steam sometimes:-)
