That really shows the disrespect the majority of these people have for this country and it's people.
And yes there are good ones but would they mind teaching the others how to respect and not be
all the time take take take. They probably had about 50 rods out as well for "fish soup"
Not a nice experience for you Lucky ruining your day I would have been fuming. I would let the ballifs know
because no doubt that will become a regular thing. The stories just keep getting worse where will it end.
Really annoyed myself here now

You didn't fancy trolling a weedless litre of vodka around the car park, sounds like they were feeding.

Did you report this one to the police? Surely lots of people drinking and driving home would have been of interest. Throw in littering and a few others and the police would have been able to at the very least move them on or break up the party. It wouldn't have helped the fishing, but no matter what nationality, this carry on can not be allowed to happen.

They Have no right to block your access!! Lucky mate I really feel for ya, I dont fresh water fish, But when you take the time to prepare for a trip get the gear ready and then to have this s*** happen!!! I would have rang the Gardas myself (away at a distance) and possible immagration as well just for good measure. Its just soo annoying to hear this. and Regardles if they were Irish or not (though I would have just rang the Gardas if they were Irish) The expense you went to to prepare your boat and then to tow it Arrraaaghh just makes me really mad!! And as Twinkle said theres no telling if they had "mates" with nets further down, and the thought of rubbish around the place.... ok ok Im goin to have to leave it there as Im just tooo annoyed!

Lucky I hope you have tight lines for the rest of the year and reel in some really great personal best from here on out... Best of luck mate!

Some sort of homemade flamethrower device could have been useful. I know fuel costs are high and it would mean filling up the car, boat and flamethrower for a days fishing, but I guess nothing's cheap these days

I'm joking btw, in case you do lose it and go all Travis Bickle style next time.

It was reported to the guards Kev, but they showed little interest. FWIW, there was no sign of illegal fishing activity going on. Several of them were recognised as former recipients of on-the-spot fines for fishery offences, but a thorough search of the area found no illegal fishing activity on this occasion. Fishery officers have very limited powers and littering and blocking carparks aren't included in the offences they can address.

Also, for those generalising about foreign nationalities, on a previous occasion when these guys were caught and fined for taking pike, the report was made by a Polish angler, who made a timely call while the offence was still occurring, and even brought fishery officers out on his boat to where these guys were fishing. Too many Irish anglers don't make that call, and bitch afterwards about IFI doing nothing. If I had a euro for every time I've been told about poaching that happened last week I'd have a very nice spinning outfit by now...

your right Bradan regards some people generalising about foreign nationalities there are some very carefull and nice foreign natonals fishing .. nd are welcome on my behalf. as for the report to the guards i was thinking that they would have no interest in the report. I know for a fact that the IFI in the west are doing all they call to combat illegal fishing in galway and surrounding areas. i myself was not going to get involved on the day with the people in question one of me and several of them. On the other hand would there be any chance of the fisheries department in the west be able to supply one proper boat slip for that lake in question or maybe just remove the big stone at the entrance of the lake, i know it is a big ask but as there are aware there are several boat anglers that use the lake.... maybe some time in the futher please....

I know of a certain foreign shop with a fridge full of frozen carp,,,bet they wernt farm raised and I'd say a fair amount of them shops are selling wild caught carp and pike. The fisheries officers should look into this; the receiver is as guilty as the stealer.
