Fishing for Answers summarises the key findings from three years of research on the benefits angling delivers for people and their communities. It focuses on angling's contribution to six key areas: sports participation; health and well-being; the natural environment; community development; tourism and rural communities; and young people.

This is a fascinating report--thanks, Jim, for bringing it to our attention. I'd urge anyone concerned with the nature of angling as a social activity to read it. A lot of it says things that every serious angler already knows, but other parts--like the positive impact of angling for those with disability--were certainly news to me, even if it's kind of obvious in retrospect.
I think also that Ireland really needs a document like this. Should there be any sociologists/social scientists out there, I'm fairly sure that the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS) would be responsive to a grant bid that has such a clear economic value. A few threads down, someone highlighted the sorry state of angling with respect to the Sports Council; maybe something like this is a way to move the issue forward?

It is in my opinion (the website too) a very valuable resource - there is lots to be learned here about many things. I hope that this last post will 'knit' the previous three together in some way.
I'm happy that you have found it Iod and I hope many other people can have a glance at it too!
Its not always about the drive to a solution via economics, there are other significant factors emphasised here that play equal importance that should provide an equal case for sustainability and measured development.
