Someone needs to jump on this and point out the realities of angling requirements before that idea spreads.

same with ppl on the beach, fishermen just seem to be a magnet for people to talk too"how long you been there" "what do you catch" "is this the right time of year to be fishing" are just some of the questions I get asked alot!! Its not our fault for wanting to go fishing, and its not thier fault for wanting to swim or walk, personally I think its a case of common sense (which oddly enough there seems to be less of these days???) as for the litter issue couldnt agree more, pick up rubbish.

Well I have never heard of a dedicated place to fish in howth.... I know where it is its beside the sea.... and Jd yea its where the mack bashers fish as there is a sign stating " Danger angling ".
Wouldn't park my car down there when the bashers are around and as I have seen leads come off and if it is an " Angling Area " how come the tourists still climb the steps and ask the usual question ( not that I fish there anymore ) just the same on the beach.... so if we get there before the swimmers and set up all our gear and they go for a swim in front of us are we expected to pack up and move mark.....
Had it in Skerries with Creep the swimmers came from thee steps and kept swimming towards us as we where following out the tide they came closer and closer....
Maybe its them that need a dedicated swimming area like a Swimming Pool
Rant over

why not bring a few rolls of bags and give one to every 5th angler at your event to look after any rubbish that might present it self during the day.Creep wrote:something like this could be a real problem for the charity fundraiser Im hopin to pull offHopefully someone will see sense and notice it isnt ALL anglers that do this, and I think for this event to be successful in all formats we need to be sure that every scrap of waste is picked up and disposed of, that way we can at least say "SEE WE ARE responsible for the environment and care about it", last time i was in Greystones I notice the amount of Doggie Land mines every where despite a huge mural painted on a wall behind us says "if we could we would pick it up!!" (with a picture of a dog, took me a while to figure it out!!)
