As I said, what's all this about? Have I missed something?

It's just so someone can thank someone for a post without typing a new post. Most forums have it. Saves on the me2 posts.

I here what you are saying JD and I know that you guys are doing a great job on the website and giving up loads of valuable time but I'm not sure about this latest add on. Do we need to be getting an email every time someone wants to say thanks. Also if I read a post that someone has put thought and time into and which I have enjoyed or found useful, should I not post something that takes a bit of thought and time and not just a click of the mouse.
Anyway that's just my thought on the matter. Maybe I'm behind the times. Keep up the good work.

Hi stephen
No problem taking time to post a reply, but it gives an opportunity for people to acknowledge a post where previously they may not haveor may have just wrote "+1".
You can turn off notifications in the control panel, but I'll go down into the pit and disable it for everyone (through the database)

I think if someone gives a bit of useful information/tips/websites etc, the thanks button is excellent and if someone has a good fishing session then reply to the post. best of both worlds...

And there was me thinking I was the first to question the whole thanks +1 malarkey and the whole conversation was had on Wednesday and Thursday already. Ah well, goes to prove the whole "no such thing as original thought" concept anyway.
