Just sitting here with a grin on my face before i "tackle" the census form... was wondering "what if" i filled it in saying "gone fishing"... would they realise how popular this past time is?
How much they get in taxes in tackle? fuel? food? and other expenses (chip shops - cafes - pubs - boats - fuel for boats - spares repairs replacements etc etc)
How many jobs we keep going and small businesses. Subsidize people with charter boats who do good jobs for the tourist trade whale watching etc.
Tourism would get a nice boost - especially if a weird thing happened when the report goes in... day of the census 1% of Ireland was fishing.
Just by a hobby - relaxation - fresh air - exercise. (my heart goes like a mentaller when i get a fish on big or small).
May be I am crazy and think they should know after all we have all these bass growing and some super catches happening. That boats will come in and possibly wreck potentially a big money making thing - hobby - past time - buy letting others fish it dry. Look back at the cod posts - end of last year. Boats coming in and trawling it all. (btw if they hadn't gone through cork harbor alone like they did imagine next year or 2's fishing).
So i am going to sit back and think about what i say on the census..
Tight lines all

"WE" are viewing it but not commenting? I think we are missing some thing here. we have an abstract way of saying hello here.. and counting as a number..
( do you remember a census that once showed the UK as part Jedi? for a religion )

well you are obliged to fill the lawful document - i suppose if there is any oppurtunity to get angling in there do
i wonder what the CACI would do with good bass data?

I had a thought about what they might do with fishing data.
Hopefully follow the same route as The Welsh and Scottish tourist boards and include fishing in the tourism campaign and maybe generate some more revenue for a lot of small businesses.
