Vision - an insight into what governments can actually do!!!

I came across this article in the last couple of days through a blog I'm signed up to.

The blog amongst other things contained a link to a piece of interesting news. After reading the article I was left thinking of how important it is for our government to have good vision. I wondered if they currently have vision. I also thought they can have vision but most importantly they should have vision. After all they are supposed to be our leaders?! Mind you a lot of the time we as anglers with a vested interest in the future of our sport need to be the ones to provide them with that vision. We usually do this by gently turning their heads in the right direction through lobbying, campaigning etc. Even if sometimes their heads are resisting in the opposite direction.

Anyway click on the link below and start dreaming - or even better start writing! ;-)

They only way they'll change is if we keep asking them to!

I totally agree with you John, the only way forward is for people, and not just sea anglers, to demand (not just ask) to have their heritage back.

It is also important for sea angling to have a political voice, which is where the IFSA and ACI should come in after all they are supposed to represent sea angling and angling respectively, but I have not heard it yet and all the while our inshore waters get more depleted.

Hi Ashley.

Unfortunately I must admit I agree with your view that none of the angling bodies do much if anything at all when it comes to trying to protect & conserve our sea fish stocks. All they seem to do is reduce size limits for competitions. Now unless they go about their lobbying quietly under the radar then fair enough.

I also must add that I have massive respect & praise for any angling body because they certainly do much more than I've ever done to promote & nurture our sport.

But at the end of the day the simple fact of the matter is that no fish means no angling & the angling bodies need to come out of their comfort zone in regards to lobbying.

By the way what is ACI?
