Albino lobster

Sat Feb 12, 2011 5:09 pm

Hello, just wandering if anyone else has ever seen an albino lobster? Saw one this weekend and it appears to be an extremely rare occurrence. Has anyone even heard of them before. I have saw white and blue ones before and orange ones but his is pure white.

very rare. worth a lot of money to collectors for aquiriums. one landed in a pot off bray several years ago and sold to a collector if memory serves me in malaysia for in the region of €30,000. havnt a clue how you would go about selling one but must be on the net somewhere.

a very rare find indeed!!. i remember seeing a programme a few years back about albino occurances in crustacions. apparently they don't last too long in the wild as all the predators who feed on them can spot them from a mile off and they usually end up on a predators menu before they reach maturity. that fella must have found himself a nice limestone crevice to hide out in for some time to reach that size  :P :P

Yea it is 1.1 kg so about 2.4 lb good size in commercial terms. If anybody has any phone numbers or would know of anybody looking to buy it, any information would be much appreciated.
