To all Anglers who will be considering fishing Donaghadee pier, or indeed visiting Donaghadee, I urge you not to. My reports of anti social kids during the summer have now escalated to a criminal situation.
This evening, Myself, my Nephew, and a Friend were set upon by about a dozen of the local youth as we left the venue. Relevant authorities have been contacted, and I'm waiting to see where it goes. Danny's pretty badly bruised, my face is swollen, and we're pretty badly shaken up.
Really can't see myself fishing locally again.... or maybe fishing again for that matter.
All the best.
Drew

Bad times when you can't even have a cast in peace. We have similar situations during the summer down here on ballycotton pier but never that bad. Hope ye're not too scratched up and ye have a speedy recovery. Also hope it doesn't put you off fishing and that the little scuts are dealt with quickly.

Wed Feb 02, 2011 11:33 am
WHAT????? that is shocking to hear, i hope you get this sorted to your satisfaction.
i know its easier said than done but please dont let this stop you fishing altogether - then those scum would have been victorious.
i'd a similar experience a few years back where a had to brandish a fishing tool in order to keep 3 idiots from bottling me.

little scumbags they need a taste of there own medicine. next time you want to fish the dee give me a shout and ill glady go with you. dont let them put you off

sad that these feckers can stop people doing something that they enjoy, and whats worse is that even though you contacted the revelent authorities, nothing will be done about it. And if you met one of them and punched his lights out, the revelent authorities will be knocking on your door. (talking from experience with a similar situation). A pair of lead boots for the ringleader..

bang out of order drew

. prob the same bunch of scroats i had the run in with the other year. when they are in a group like that they act like a pack of wild dogs. seen it at work for so many years. if i had'nt have knocked the biggest one spark clean out the rest of them would have likely jumped me. not so hard individually, but like i said there is a pack mentality that kicks in when there is a group of them. hope wee dan was'nt too badly shaken up. such a quiet kid too. total disgrace.

Disgracefull what happened to yis, dont let them get you down, takes more than a few gouriers to put us off our fishing. Seen these sort of scum all my life, they hunt in packs, but get them on there own they are like puppy shite, keep her lit and keep the head up.

this raises it head everywhere around the country although not usually during the cold season.have had occasion to have to defend myself while fishing several times i aways bring a good heavy rod stand has helped me out i bring it even to harbours just in case

.remeber one guy down in colimore ending up in the harbour and his mate jumping in just to get away from it
