i wonder were all those megrim going to be relabeled something else - never heard of them for sale

the monkfish seemed fairly small to me - they are 2/3 head!

your man baz seemed to have a solid enough stomach for it - tough enough life with only 1.5hrs kip at a time

Was interesting enough :)
I believe that the majority of megs get exported - France and Spain.
I hate the idea of beamers though. Apparently they destroy the bottom...like ploughing.

agreed jim - he even said how the method worked in the voice over - couldnt be sustainable in the long run - scaring the bottom of the sea bed each time

€4 an hour not the most enticing forms of employment!

They do, bigtime. When I was younger and stupider I ran a 50ft scallop dredger for a few years, they're 10 times worse! Half of the time we brought the seabed onto the deck, everything mangled.
Years later I saw a film taken by an underwater camera mounted on the net head of a beam trawl, it wasnt fishing it was demolition. They should definitely be banned, its a desperately destructive and inefficient method. And scallops should be farmed.
