My car got broken into last night in Carignavar.
Items stolen:
Century Carbon Metal Express, abu grip lock seat down low, tennis grip, bngh fuji rings, whipped by peter horne (black and white, ye jnow the one). spigot loose(ish).
2 x 525 Mag Extra's.
2 x 525 originals.
1 x Blu diawa 7HT Mag.
Reals are well used. most were loaded with that red .35 mm line (can't think of it of top of my head, synergy possibly). some also had tapered shock leaders attached but most hadn't.
Reason I'm posting this is for fella's to keep an eye out please. The job looked opertunistic and I don't think many scumbags will be using the above gear Macky bashing in cobh this August. Ye know yerselves its only likes of us can use the gear.
If you do hear or see of anything I will treat all information with the utmost of discretion, anonymity and confidentiality.
I'd appreciate if some of you that know me could keep an eye out in cork area, or if lads have tried flogging them to tackle shops or whatever.
Thanks all,
Hugh

Hearing this kind of thing going on really makes me mad!

Scum is what they are. (I hope I'm allowed to say that).
The same thing happened to someone I know last year . Alot of expensive gear/tackle was stolen and the guy has never got it back.
I hope your stuff turns up and the people involved get into big trouble for stealing it!
It might be worth checking on other fishing web sites/forums like this one incase they try to sell your gear on them.

ah sh!te - hard luck hugh - hope you get some leads on this

Hi Hugh,
thats unreal.Infact its disgusting, sorry to hear it bud.As you say the rod is very distinctive so if anyone tries flogging it,it should be easily recognisable with the whipping and real seat.I'll spread the word around in my neck of the woods.I take it they nicked the seatbox as well, which is blue in colour and has a few breakaway accessories inside and out.
I'll buzz you in a while to see if i have any gear that would suit you in the short term .and hopefully get you over this mess.

I forgot to say - the guy that I know who got his gear stolen last year, it was taken from the same area as your stuff was taken.
Maybe it's the same people you are stole the tackle both times, maybe not but it could be.
It's coming into that time of year again when everywhere is going to start getting busy with anglers, it wouldn't do any harm for us all to try and keep an extra eye out for people hanging around acting suspiciously and try not to leave any gear or tackle on view in your car or boat.

Same happened me in December 2008 except they also took the car. If you have an all risks home insurance policy the gear would be covered. I didn't and had to replace all of it from my pocket. Hope you have a bit of luck getting it back.

Hugh,
Thats horrible bud.
Ill keep an eye out and my ear to the ground.
Carignavar is a bit unusual though, i dont know of anywhere around there that they would shift it on?
I wouldnt necessarily say they are anglers though, just idiots who saw a shiny fishing rod, it would take about 2 brain cells to process the taught that it was good gear, 2 more brain cells then they have so id say just pure opportunistic.
Keep an eye out in any second hand stores / markets / boot sales / pink pages in the echo or even ebay.
This things have a habit of appearing for sale sometimes so hopefully theyll appear and the right person will see it.

lads cheers, and thanks for the pm's. I'l check out the various pawn shops in town this afternoon. Unless the boys fired it on the ditch if they cant sell it.. Very amature job on the car aswel (even though they'd gloves). appreciate all the help.
The rod was in a blue century bag I got courtesy of Mike Carlton aswel.
One name would do me

PS: if anyone can give me info as to whereabouts of the gear or part of I'm offering E200 cash and strictest of anonymity if required

willing to pay market value for the rod-if anyone manages to pick it up.
I can have it valued by Peter Horne in Blarney and will pay market value as reward for recovery.
Same reward above stands for full/part recovery of the gear.
thanks again,
Hugh

Terrible news Hugh, hope you get some/all of it back.
As Stephen Wood pointed out in his reply, its a definate reminder to us all that it is well worth paying the extra premium on your house insurance policy to have the "away from home" insurance cover, or at the very least check to see does your motor policy cover such loses.
Best of luck getting your gear back
