thinking about taking up fishing?

If you are thinking about taking up fishing here are a few things to think about.

1:Don't take up fishing if you have a clinging wife or girlfriend who needs you every weekend to go shopping, cut the lawn, paint the house,or walk the bloody dog.

2:Don't take it up if you wish to keep your money. When hooked, you will spend hours in tackle shops, begging the owner to empty your wallet on baits, rigs, reels, rods, waders, jackets, plugs, spoons, hooks, crimps,or anything else that takes your fancy.

3: Don't take up angling to improve your health! you will get soaked by the rain, your waders will leak, you will get sore feet trampling over miles of rocks, piers, and beaches.lumbago from carrying all the gear you need for a sucessful fishing trip, frozen to the bone because you forgot your jacket when you snuck out of the house, double vision from tying rigs at dusk, and the nadgers from talking about fishing when you ARE at home.

4:Don't take up fishing if you want to relax after working all week! you will get high blood pressure when you hook a fish, and you will be a nervous wreak by the time you land it.and you will be a gibbering idiot if you loose a big fish like a 20lb cod!

If you are still thinking about taking it up.....well you have been warned!

When you,ve travelled to a so called productive mark 150kms away and fish for 8 hours without a single bite and your telling yourself why do i put myself through all this anguish and then on your very last ,very very last ,the FINAL fookin cast you get a monster of a thumper of a bite on your rod and get a monster fight for 15 mins and eventually see your prize catch..is it a Bass ,is it a Cod ,is it a Tope. NO its tonnes and tonnes of weed thats going to take you another hour to clean

Passively smoking 80 fags from 2 mates who insist on smoking 40 fags each per session. Listening to a girlfriend/wife at 3 a.m. in the morning saying take them clothes off in the utility room not in the bedroom or living room after standing for 6 hours without a bite. AKA the coldest room in the house!!! Also the shower that just about thaws you out but does not even remotely remove the bait smell from your hands.....

Doggie i completely agree with you. But I am also sure everyone on the site will agree that we wouldnt have it any ther way............ i love it!

that lovely stingin feeling you get when you get back to the car and use that alcohol based hand cleaner, so ya can hit up the chippy without tastin ragworm..... The sting of every misplaced hook, line burn, doggie scrape and don;t forget the bait kniofe wounds.... oh the joys of night fishing... wish I was out right now...

Ah lads, your turning me on, I'm grabbing the gear and Walking (too much red wine to drive) to whiterock. Can't wait for the rain and cold. But you have to admit, sunrise on a sandy beach when you are freezing your tits off and have a hot cup of coffee (from the flask) is something that everyone should experience. Even better with a decent flounder on the line!! Good night.....where's me bait!!!!

Looking for weeks when everyone is out of the house for the source of that manky smell in the garage that everyone else complains about but you pretend you cant get    ,,,,,,,,,,,before eventually finding the slight crack in the bottom of your thoroughly washed cooler box liner that has let all the lug juice through

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the van, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."

My loving wife of 15 years replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"

a few more, give your 2/12 year old son an old spinning rod to walk round the garden with pretending to cast and generally hit things with, walk into the house to get a cuppa walk out again and find he's gone back into the shed and got the top piece of your century and is just about to beat it off the patio.

Overcome the guilt trip your wife try's to put you on each time you go, only for her to add a new weapon to her arsenal !
"Daddy's going fishing son"
" Can i come fishing with you dad"
"Sorry I'm going to rock mark its to dangerous i will take you next time i go to a beach"
Cue tears and as you leave the house and you feeling like a bad dad
