Bass in Restaurants

Hi lads
Just finished reading an article in the Sunday Times Magazine today 5/july an in particular the regular story "A day in the Life".
To day's one is about a Restranteur on a island off Cork whilst reading this Article i was amazed to see that and i quote "Obviously, being an island,we use a lot of fish, and i am lucky because a couple of fishermen provide me with Sea Trout,Pollock, mullet,BASS,lobster and Crab"
Any ideas what to do with this info.

Hi there,
not sure what you can do except pass the info onto the relevant fishery board for the area,i know that at one stage back this way that the fishery officers used to call to restaurents unannounced if it was suspected they were selling irish caught bass.
I mean if the person in the article openly admits taking bass from local fishermen then the result should be obvious, but these fishermen could be supplying farmed bass from the local farming community, don't be too surprised
Whats the story with sea-trout,not sure about the legislation on these fish,is it the same as salmon.Either way pass all the info on pronto.
Tight lines

As far as i know it is legal to sell Sea Trout but not in some areas for example some areas around Galway.. I am open to correction on this but as for the bass i really hope Irish caught bass is not being sold on the market as stocks will begin to fall again if this is happening

OP, pass the info on to the relevant fishery board. They have powers to enter and search premises and inspect paperwork relating to fish purchases, etc
