Robson Green - Extreme Fishing

Im sure some of the fishing buffs on here have watched the actor Robson Green lark about all over the world catching fish and have enjoyed his exploits, for those who havent its on Channel 5.

I however had the misfortune of reading a quote that Robson had made whilst on a radio show, he claimed that 90% of fish caught and released DIED!!!, there is also an article in the Angling Times. I think he has done a good job in bringing fishing back into the public domain and mainstream tv so to speak with his show, but feel this outburst will do more harm than good.

Im no mathamatician but 90% seems a bit drastic, so if 100 fish are landed in a competition and then released 90 of the fish will die :?:

Surely this cant be true???

If anyone out there with a bit more sense the Robson Green can maybe shed more light on this I would be most greatful.

Well that is food for thought with most fish i find it easy enough to release the fish easily enough ie in the water minimum handling but sometimes with a bass i find it more difficult with the spikes what is the best way to hold a bass to get a hook out and reduce mortality rate
