A Shore Thing

Hi

I called into Doug Priddy's new store "A Shore Thing" on the quay in westport. Very nice. He's stocking live bait including ragworm but you need to book it. Some fecker (I know who you are  ) from Sligo cleaned him out an hour before I got there. Anyhow having the chat and noticed a nice ray on the wall from a private mark on Lettermore Island in Connemara. Yeah he says that a nice blonde ray from a very deep mark. No it ain't I thinks, looking, its a specimen painted ray easily over the 10 lbs. Caught last November on sand eel.

BTW, himself and a mate had seventeen thornies from a well known mark on Gorumna over two sessions, best 9 lbs, you should know what I'm talking about...

Nice shop and proper bait!!! Rod and reel hire by the week too, for tourists.

Glad to hear it, Some over priced end tackle, lack of stock and general disinterest in the customer in another unnamed fishing shop in the area. Which isn't good for out of town anglers. Healthy competition can only be a good thing.

I've been into the shop twice over the last couple of weeks and it's a cracking spot and Doug is really helpful. I was in there on Saturday and he put me bang on a mark and it produced fish. It's about time we got a decent fishing shop on this side of the country. It's well worth the drive down from Sligo and no it wasn't me who had bought all the rag they were gone by the time I got there. I know to book them from now on! His prices are spot on too. I got 2 packs of eels and a pack of mack for the less than the price of 2 packs of eels up here in Sligo. Good prices and good advice you can't say fairer than that.

have to agree with you shane, i was in last monday doug is a gentleman, his prices are amazing,he is a mine of info, giving away some of his own marks, and the events he is setting up, particulary the evening trips from rooney pier, and the beach fishing sessions for us that are a bit amateurish on the beaches!
