He will definitely not get a rod and line record for that. It took 13 of them to get it up.
Once someone else touches rod, record is null and void.

Another thing it said was he had to pull line

Record is null and void if you use line to pull in fish
1. Handlining or using a handline or rope attached in any manner to the angler's line or leader for the purpose of holding or lifting the fish.

from what i read it sounds like he just grabbed the main line and pulled to dislodge the fish from the bottom, no other line/rope attached to the mainline/leader other than the rod/reel and fish!!

why are we even thinking like that, this is an amazing achievment no matter how he got it in,, fair play to the guys what an achievment
would love to see it in the flesh wow, love the fresh water sting rays there stunning

The Guy who Caught it was on tight lines on sky last friday, I think there is some footage of it so would be well worth a look

Apparently he was on a fishing show the weekend but not too sure which one. My daughter was watching some fishing shows Saturday morning and was able to tell me all about it although she did seem more intrigued by a rat fish she saw being caught on the same show.
Anyone see it? I tried youtube but they only have pictures, no actual footage.
