JOIN IN !

I'v noticed over the last 6 months that things have been very slow on the forum despite large numbers of new members joining each month. From looking at the stats the number of posts are down on each month from last year.

Obviously there will always be a large number of lurkers who prefer to read instead of contributing. We need to encourage more people to contribute, otherwise the whole thing stagnates.

I know plenty of lurkers who just read the forum and some how think that they are cute hoors gathering information undercover :lol: :lol: . All I can say is join in and become part of the sea-angling -Ireland community, much more fun than just lurking :wink: .

the 'shnake' was last spotted near farranfore this morning,something to do with killarney bouncers!
And for all the Trawler men tralee bay sac had a cracker of a comp today on fenit pier, wore a hole in drop net with all the monk, tope, late cod, BASS, and very common skate we were hawling up all day!

You would not by any chance be hoping a vessel knocks over the pier so that we won't have to fish it anymore. Nice work.

well lads i would gladly contribute to the forum but i now live in merseyside england, so the only chance i get to post on here is when i go to my parents on the dingle a few times a year, and i dont see a section for reports from england or i would love to post my catch reports

Its a tricky one this, I post the oddf time (when I have something useful to add or a question to ask) but if I can't answer a question or request for advice I won't bother replying although I may read the advice others give. I love to be able to give some good (hopefully) advice when someone asks about an area i'm familiar with.

But when you see 200 people having read a post and no responses then there's obviously a lot more "take" than "give" going on .. or maybe its jsut that there are a relatively small number of very regular expert anglers and a vast majority of would be's (myself included).

If you wanted to force / encourage people to join in, then you could restrict access to the reports sections until people had posted X amount in other forums etc. Lots of forums for other topics do this in my experience, only problem then is monitoring it and stoping the gobsh1tes posting "nice fish boss" 20 times :?

My origional post was aimed at people who are not members, just encouraging more people to join because there are plenty of people who view the site on a regular basis that could add something positive to the forum.

Would not be in favour of any form of regulation, that just puts people off.

you can encourage them to join by making this forum the best there is for Irish shore and boat angling, (which it is) the information is there for guests who are starting to fish as well as the more experienced fishermen,
the amount of resources this site holds for both beginner and experienced anglers is unmatched by any other forum, the information is shared freely to encourage better moral values and respect of the sport.

Quite a few members i have talked to didnt register for a couple of years after finding the forum because they thought they had nothing to contribute, i would be more inclined to suggest that everyone has something to contribute no matter how inexperienced they are.

we are all here to learn, no one knows everything, and if they think they do, they don't. i'm in here a long time and i'm still learning something new everyday :D

I had learnt a huge amount from the forum. I discovered it late last year. I first held a fishing rod in my hand one year ago from tomorrow and just spent the summer spinning. If it had not been for the useful information I gained from this site I would probably have done very little fishing over the winter and spring - and definitely caught a lot less fish.

Apart from the comments posted to my shore reports I have also received many PMs which have given me invaluable advice - so if you are a beginner like me I would encourage you to register and post some reports. You are sure to receive some handy tips which can only improve your fishing.

well said RockHunter, i to found this site late last year and it is by far the best one i have ever seen, i would encourage anyone that is into fishing to join up with this site, weather they have been fishing for years or just starting out,for in here is a gold mine of knowage, especially for the beginer. there is a lot of experienced anglers on this site that would gladly give advice and tips to others via: postings or PM's. so i would encourage anyone that is sitting back and just viewing this site to join up, as stevecrow said, no one knows every thing. but in here you will get the chance to learn a lot, so why sit in the background ?

Ive been a member of sea angling ireland for over a month now, before that i was trawling the internet for Charters, shore marks and basic know how, i would deffinatly recommend this forum to anyone who is interested in sea angling in Ireland.

I have been looking for quite sometime now to try and find anything better than what is on offer on this site and nothing comes close. From the in-depth discussions and detailed reports, anyone from the complete novice to the Aged expericed angler cant lose from the info gained from the site.

I for one have got alot from this and ive only been here for one month even getting a supplier of special worms :wink: (not the white varity yet :cry: )
hopefully i'll be getting out and putting a report out myself in the not so distant future.

I will be telling anyone and everyone i see that this is the no.1 forum in ireland to support sea angling.
