Depressing, its always the way when there is a lot of money being made that there are such efforts to keep everything as secretive as possible.

Tuna Stocks

Yes BlueFin Tuna ranching was started in Australia. The price of Bluefin on the Tokyo market drives this business. Actually it is a way of selling Bluefin under the counter. Bluefin Tuna are the only fish subject to quotas in the Mediterranean. Catch them in a net but immedeatly transfer to a cage and they are now miraculously classified as ranched, and therefore not subject to quota. Because of this practise it is now impossible to monitor the remaining actual stocks of Bluefin. Make no mistake this is legally sanctioned extinction circa 2008, all the main governments of the world know, but do nothing to stop it. Anyone holidaying in the St Pauls area of Malta will see these cages.

If you have read this post, start to shout, it is not too late.
