found a thornie one the last day - they are quiet big!

Caught a fat doggie on Jan 10th that appeared to have a length of 6 inches or so of nylon protruding from its vent. Myself and Lee were certain sure this doggie had swallowed a hook and this was the remains of a snood it was attempting to pass. I gave it a light tug and it didnt appear to be giving way so I reached for the scissors to cut it off as close as possible. Imagine the surprise when gentle pressure resulted in all of a sudden an eggcase popping out.... :o

I don't know if we are the first people to ever assist at a Doggies birth(Certainly much less messy than either of my 2 childrens..... :D ), both fish and eggcase were returned to the sea ASAP. We like to think of ourselves as honorary god parents to the wee pup.... :lol:

myself and eric fished kilcoole a week ago and got at least 10 on our lines or in weed some empty and some occupied we didnt keep any but will keep empties from now on :?

found one, not sure which species, presumed to be a doggie as ray are not exactly common :cry: on killiney a fews ago,empty
