Rods and car safety

Thu Jan 17, 2008 8:36 pm

I skated the car on black ice at the weekend and ended up in a ditch. The two rods I carry (resting between door and passenger seat and pointing back towards the back window) were smashed by a box sliding along the back seat. It was a minor accident - cuts or bruises - but the sharp jagged ends of the rod tips could have been nasty if they had endered skin. Beware.

glad to here your ok.

i fold down part o my back seat and pass the rods through beween driver and passenger seats, the top of the rods reach about as far as the arm rest betweet seats....... prob lethal if i had a head on

gee sorry to hear that mate glad your ok,

if i am on my own i put the butts of the rods in the passenger foot well and the top facing out the back window, then i use the seat belt to hold them in place, all other stuff goes in the boot so there isn't anything loose to fly about if hit, but if there is more than one in the car I'll put the roof rack on, used to put the back seats down but hard to stand on brakes once and the rods nearly went out the windows, so its the roof rack, looking to get pipes to protect the rods for longer road trips
