Another vicious storm

Lads, another storm is going to pass near us, and according to the models it is intensifying. Met eireann don't seem to have upgraded their warning, but fishing would be reckless this evening. Swell heights have already reached +10 metres on the M6 buoy.

Just back from playing golf (yes, I know  ). Could hardly stand up with the wind, some gusts were storm force for sure. Played a course near Clifden with great views of the sea, the waves were pretty impressive. I wouldn't be going fishing for the next 24 hours anyway...

your never going to live that down...

seems to be the west and south west that are going to get the brunt of the weather front coming.. and Sunday morning is going to be the worst of it..

there is a reason i havent been out fishing.... its not safe..

even at low tide on the slip a 1.5 meter wave could be the end of you..

the safest time there would be between 9am and 12 in the morning after that forget it.. with the winds expected to be at there strongest in the morning, force 9-11 in the bay.

so ask your self.. is it worth it

Sat Dec 08, 2007 8:36 pm

well all i can say is if the wind can blow the lorry i was driving across the road and the wipers cant work fast enough to clear the rain then its not the time for fishing, and that was earlier today, before the main storm was due

these are the biggest seas ever recorded by the buoys. Did anyone see how high it got to around midnight?

This has the missing data for M6. I think the surfers will be out again!
